Inclusion refers to the education of students with disabilities with their nondisabled peers, with special education supports and services being provided as necessary.
Guidelines for responsible inclusion are that the student and family are considered first, teachers choose to participate in inclusion classrooms, adequate resources are provided for inclusion classrooms, models are developed and implemented at the school-based level, a continuum of services is maintained, the service delivery model is evaluated continuously, and ongoing professional development is provided.
The Florida Inclusion Network provides learning opportunities, consultation, information, and support to educators, families, and community members resulting in the inclusion of all students.

How Labels Inform & Limit Teachers & Students
The Language of Labels by Darcy Markham (An article published in Teaching Exception Children Plus November 2005)
The author describes how the language of labels and her own cultural biases affect how she approaches teaching her students with disabilities. The author examines how the mythopoetic narratives of our past force us to examine the underlying assumptions of our culture that are expressed within our language and how understanding our own linguistic patterns can open our minds up to alternative viewpoints that we may not have otherwise understood.
